Support Group Structure
Check-In Activity: We begin each session by creating a shared pause from the outside world. This opening moment invites participants to orient to the group, notice their internal state, and gently shift into a relational space. Brief sharing is welcomed as a way to establish safety and presence, without pressure to disclose more than feels comfortable.
Member-Led Conversations: The direction of each meeting is shaped by what participants are navigating in real time. Topics emerge from individual experiences and reflections, allowing the group to respond collectively. The facilitator supports the conversation by maintaining focus, encouraging curiosity, and helping the group stay connected to its shared purpose.
Responsive Clinical Support: Clinical guidance is offered in a flexible, collaborative manner. Rather than teaching from a set agenda, therapeutic concepts, coping strategies, and psychoeducation related to selective mutism are introduced when they align with the group’s needs.

Processing Group for Autistic Women
-
Purpose
Welcome to a supportive community designed by and for autistic women who are navigating the unique intersections of neurodivergence and holistic health. This group, facilitated by Dr. Yoko Shibata, recognizes that wellness looks different for each of us, and we celebrate the diverse ways we care for our minds, bodies, and spirits.
Together, we explore practical approaches to nutrition, sleep, relationships, movement, and common health conditions experienced by autistic women—all while honoring sensory preferences, executive functioning styles, and individual pacing. We share strategies for creating sensory-friendly environments, managing overwhelm, and advocating for our needs in work space, school, healthcare, and daily life.
This is a judgment-free space where stimming, special interests, and communication differences are valued parts of who we are. We believe in peer wisdom, mutual support, and the power of shared experiences to foster genuine understanding.
